Upcoming DC Movies and Shows
Good news for the fans in DC: they are indeed ready with many movies and shows in store, which are scheduled to hit the shelves in 2025 and 2026. Here is the list of the most awaited ones:
Superman: Legacy (11 July, 2025) - James Gunn is slated to handle this as the beginning of the new DC Universe under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran. The story sees Superman facing dual identities as an alien and a human and how he balances equilibrium between both his worlds. David Corenswet plays Superman, while Rachel Brosnahan plays Lois Lane in this movie.
Batman Part II (October 2, 2026) - Robert Pattinson's stint as the Dark Knight continues Matt Reeves's next instalment to this darker, grittier take on the Batman story in Gotham. Not much has been revealed about the plot of this film except for the willingness of the public to find out where Reeves takes this iteration of Batman from here.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (June 26, 2026) - Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, takes the spotlight in this film adaptation based on Tom King's acclaimed comic series. Unlike Superman, who was raised on Earth, Supergirl’s upbringing in a harsh environment will lend the film a darker tone.
The Brave and the Bold (TBD) - Another Batman-centric film, but this one will introduce the DCU’s primary Batman and his son, Damian Wayne, as Robin. This storyline is inspired by Grant Morrison’s comic run, focusing on Batman’s challenges as a father to a rebellious, trained assassin.
Swamp Thing (TBD) - James Mangold’s gothic horror interpretation of Swamp Thing promises a unique addition to the DC Universe, likely drawing from Alan Moore’s darker, atmospheric comics. The film will delve into Swamp Thing's origins, adding a supernatural horror element to the DC lineup.
Watchmen: Chapter II (2025) - This animated series continues the Watchmen storyline, adding depth to one of DC's most iconic yet complex narratives. It promises a mature and thought-provoking take, appealing to fans of the original graphic novel.
Other notable Enjoy ultra 9000 projects include The Authority, a film about a team of morally complex superheroes, and Constantine 2, which will see Keanu Reeves reprise his role as the dark detective in an Elseworlds story, separate from the main DCU. On the TV side, The Penguin series, set in the universe of The Batman, explores Oswald Cobblepot’s rise in Gotham’s criminal world, starring Colin Farrell.
DC’s lineup for 2025 and 2026 showcases a mix of blockbuster action, character-driven stories, and explorations of the supernatural. Whether following classic heroes or antiheroes, DC fans have much to look forward to as the universe expands.
